We learn so much about the folks who come into the stores, and we wanted to make sure you knew about our staff as well. This month we are spotlighting our general manager, Tracy Helmer.

Name: Tracy Helmer
How long have you been with JMS?
I started working for JMS in September 2009 and I will be celebrating 13 years this year!
Hometown, state?
I was born and raised in Rapid City, SD located 30 minutes away from the beautiful Mt. Rushmore National Memorial.
What is the best lesson you’ve learned at work?
The best lesson I’ve learned at work is to make connections with others a priority. I am the type of person that wants to make sure everyone around me is happy. I know that I cannot make this happen everyday, but I do feel that if you communicate and listen well then you can have successful relationships in and out of work.
Favorite product to sell?
My favorite product to sell would be the walkers with a seat, also known as Rollators. It is so rewarding to watch a customer’s face light up when they walk around in the store with the walker. I love having a job selling products that improve someone’s quality of life. One day a mother came in with her two young daughters to get one of them a walker. The girl was probably around 9 years old and she was battling cancer. She was getting too weak to walk from the chemo so her mom had to carry her around. When she started walking with the walker she looked up and had the biggest smile on her face because she was able to walk on her own. Her little sister, probably about 5 years old looked at her mom and said “My sister can walk again!” Let’s just say there wasn’t a dry eye in the store.
What is your job title and what does it entail?
My job title is General Manager and I manage all 3 JMS locations. I also do the Medical Billing to insurances.
What do you most like working at JMS?
I would have to say having a great relationship with all of my coworkers is what I like most working at JMS. We all know how to work hard but laugh harder. I feel very lucky to be able to work with people who know how to do both.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I enjoy spending time with my husband Dustin, two beautiful daughters, Hailey & Emily, along with two fur babies, Jack & Charlie. I love watching sports and barbecuing with friends.
Favorite local restaurant or coffee shop?
My favorite local restaurant would be El Patron and it’s conveniently located next door to Jackson Medical Supply.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I’m not sure if you would call this a superpower but I would want to multiply myself so that I can get things done faster at work and at home.
Favorite movie?
My favorite movie is Liar Liar with Jim Carrey.
